Just C.O.S.

Calil “JUST C.O.S.” Cage is the founder and executive director of The Sparrow’s Fortune, a state-wide literary arts organization with the mission to inspire, educate, and encourage. Always seeking to develop and ignite others through storytelling, by lifestyle and by craft, JUST C.O.S., is a poet, educator, and author. JUST C.O.S. holds a B.S. in Human Development and Family Studies from Kent State University while currently looking to obtain an MFA in the near future. Born in Chicago, IL, and partially raised in Columbus, OH, he currently resides in Cleveland, OH. As of 2025, aside from directing The Sparrow’s Fortune, Calil also serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Poetry Unplugged, a monthly open-mic experience that allows artists to be limitless in their expression. At the start of 2023, Calil became a Room in the House Fellow of Karamu House, the oldest African American Theater in the United States. Calil was then awarded the Helping Hands award by the ADAMHS (pronounced Adams) Board of Cuyahoga County because of the communal nature of his work in the arts. Later in 2023, Calil Cage co-wrote and released a live-studio album and book, “BARE: In the Flesh". In June of 2022, he released his self-published debut poetry book, Evolving When Love Has No Reality. While anticipating his forthcoming project, Lonely, his newest chapbook, All at Once, will be available in

November of 2026.
